There is online surveillance and authoritarian rule. However, pretty much everyone I've spoken to says that they treat everyone with respect, and equally, regardless of ethnicity or background. It's not like Western countries where they try to prevent minorities from gaining influence. Race, gender and religous equality appears to be very good in China, despite the authoritarianism.

it is a clever move, politically and ethically. Politically, China makes its stance on Palestine in stark contrast with the US. On ethical and humanitarian stance, it also sets itself far away from the US which has supported Israel throughout, before the October incident, and after it. Thanks to the US, Israel continue to punish Palestinians just because it has the firepower and the means to do so.

I was wondering when China was going to step in…I was pessimistic that China and Russia would not step in - Russia, to let the world focus on Gaza and not Ukraine and China out of lack of interest in entering the fray. A glimmer of hope after all …not much because I think pretty much everyone would throw Palestine under the bus if helping them caused THEM damage.
