There was a big scandal in Taiwan in early this year where a Taiwanese congress legislator sent their helmet and plates to the US and compared them with Chinese (Official/AliExpress) and American kits. They found out American kits are the best in overall protection and deformation, while Chinese kits offered similar protection but with much cheaper price. Taiwanese kits came in last with the worst protection and very expensive price. The whole fiasco forced Taiwanese MoD to announce development of level IV plates (whereas they only had level III for their infantry in the past).

Lets face it, most of the money doesn't even go to cool stuff, it's just gobbled up by how absurdly overpriced everything is. Remember, it was leaked out that the DOD spent tens of thousands of dollars on a trash can.

"Chinese offered similar protection" my ass. They're crap quality. This thing bulged like a 60 yr old man on Viagra from just 9mm. Barely managed to stop a .44 (that bulge would've killed it's wearer) and then didn't even put up a resistance to the 7.62.

I'd be curious to see a force test with different rounds. Quite a few guys have gotten smacked in the helmet at range and have had TBIs just from the kinetic energy dump, not to mention the bulge of the catch. I think it'd be interesting to see what type of G force is imparted with an impact and what range and caliber is the best/worst

Currently, only front-line combatants are issued this helmet. Most of the Chinese military still use the QGF-03 helmet, with little difference in protection.

After seeing the video of Chinese construction workers showing the difference between their hard hats and their supervisor’s, I wasn’t expecting this thing to even stop a .22, this might be the only semi competent Chinese armor I’ve ever seen

To be fair to some of the calibers tested, I don't know who the hell is gonna shrug off 12 gauge buck or even 9mm from that range, even if the helmet catches the bullet. Concussive force is a real thing after all.

It should be noted that just because the bullets didn't go through doesn't mean a person would actually survive. Stopping a bullet is one thing, stopping all that energy from being dumped into the brain and causing a concussion is another.

As much as we mock the Chinese don't disrespect them or what they are actually able to do. Disrespecting the enemy earns you the bad outcome you deserve and nobody should feel pity for you nor you deserve help.
