The only thing that will work is if the currency is a counter party to gold.Whatever currency you create, if it is backed by, and can be exchanged for gold, is the only thing that will work. Otherwise, you'll have to trust each other. The E.U. has learned this the hard way and may not hold as long they have hoped.

USA doesn't have to see this as a threat. Why must the dollar dominate? Why should transactions that have nothing to do with USA be done in dollars? It's an outdated system that must change. USA can have its national currency like everyone else. No more exceptionalism.

I still don't understand what difference it makes other than now globally we'll be required to do our calculations using different currencies when we buy and sel.

The USD will cede to become the Reserve Currency for global trade and commerce as long as the BRICS, ASEAN, ME and Africa conduct their trading transactions mostly in currencies other than the USD.
