Filipinos need to learn self-sufficiency.Spending 1% of GDP on defence is inadequate. Filipinos need to hold their government to account for the amount of corruption or incompetence in their naval procurement programs. Austal is one of the current contractors for new coastguard vessels. Austal has just been fined 24 million by the American DoJ for corruption. Go figure. That is why Filipinos haven’t got proper equipment to defend what they want to claim.
